Central Community Church has been impacting lives in Hanford , California for over 100 years. While our community has changed dramatically in that time, we continue to express a message of life and hope that is relevant and meaningful for the 21st century world in which we live. Unfortunately, Christians have often substituted religion in place of the challenging and practical faith that Jesus offered. Church has to be more than traditions, rituals, beliefs, or emotional experiences. At Central we are convinced that Faith is for Living. The message of Jesus Christ is not just about what happens on Sunday mornings or in a church building, but ultimately about a new way of approaching life 24/7. If you are ready to discover what a meaningful faith is all about, but don't know where to begin, we invite you to connect with Central Community Church. As a church especially for People Who've Given Up on Church, we want to be a safe and relaxed place for people to ask questions, express doubts, and discover for themselves the way of Jesus. You will find that we are just ordinary people who experience first-hand what God is doing in and through our lives. OUR AFFILIATION Central Community Church is open to all individuals regardless of church background, and we believe that denominational labels and religious heritage are not what really matter. As such we consider ourselves trans-denominational. We strive to cooperate with other churches wherever possible because, despite differences in tradition and approach, our ultimate objectives are similar. We also maintain an accountability and cooperative relationship with the Central California Association of the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana), an international movement of churches which stresses unity (i.e. God's church is much more than any one denomination) and holiness (i.e. our faith is to be lived, not just believed). |

| Our Beliefs - The center of our faith and life is God in Jesus Christ. We believe that ultimate life is found in his teachings, death and resurrection; and that we can experience and live that reality through the presence of God’s Spirit. As a church we uphold the conviction that we exist not just for ourselves, but for the whole world, including those who do not yet follow Christ. The message of Jesus is good news and brings new life. |
| To love people so they discover all that God created them to be and live as followers of Jesus Christ. Our mission statement describes our purpose,or what it is we do. As a church we uphold the conviction that we exist not just for ourselves, but for the whole world, including those who do not yet follow Christ. The message of Jesus is good news and brings new life. We will do whatever we can to help people discover God’s way and how it can become a reality for them. Everything we do is based on this mission of developing disciples (i.e. followers). We will avoid establishing programs that may distract us from accomplishing this purpose. |
| To be an alternative church for irreligious people to discover and live a meaningful faith that impacts the world. Our vision statement summarizes our specific calling, and what we are becoming. Every church is unique in composition, character, strengths, resources, and approach. A city like Hanford can benefit from a variety of different churches, each finding their own niche and impacting people that they are best suited to reach. At Central Community Church we have determined that, while we reach out to everyone, we are best able to connect with adults, 30-60 years old, who have given up on or may have been hurt by organized religion. We see ourselves becoming an “alternative” church for those who are reluctant to enter a more traditional setting due to their past experiences and impressions. Many of these people can be considered “irreligious” because, while they may still believe in God and are interested in spirituality, they are not involved in religious activity. We understand our goal to help them develop a “meaningful faith” that is more than tradition or rote, but that engages them in their everyday lives. |
| Our Ministry Plan We take our mission and vision seriously. So much so, in fact, that we take a deliberate approach to everything we do. Churches can easily get into a rut with their activities, and engage in haphazard ministry. At the core of our ministry plan is the belief that there are three major foci for the church. We remember them through the use of three “C” words: Christ (our relationship with God), Community (relationships with each other), and Cause (relationships with our world). True worship of God happens as we fulfill these priorities. An effective church will emphasize and balance all three aspects. We recognize that everyone is at a different stage in their spiritual growth. While our goal is to see people discover all that God created them to be and to live as followers of Jesus Christ, the reality is that this is a life-long process. For this reason, we want to provide meaningful opportunities that everyone can take advantage of, whether you are still trying to make sense of faith or you are a fully-committed follower. |
| History Known originally as North Side Church of God, and later as First Church of God, Central Community Church has been an active force in Hanford for over 100 years.
